The upstairs doll room at the Restoration House.

We started with the standard ten minutes of silence. While I remained subdued and quiet, my mind was swiftly racing. What about the dolls! The dolls I tell you! I couldn’t stop thinking about the possibility of devilish dolls lurking just beyond in the darkness, waiting for their chance to pounce. I felt that at any moment one would fly across the room yelling, “Heeere’s Chucky!”

As far as what I caught with DARREN, my audio recorder, there were a few things that appeared that are worth mentioning. The temperature upstairs at the Restoration House was a whopping forty-nine degrees. I swear I could almost see my breath. But what do you expect for December in Minnesota? Hopefully the cold climate didn’t keep the ghosts away—or maybe we’d get lucky and hear their phantom teeth chattering.

At thirteen minutes, three seconds into my tape, two wrapping sounds could be heard. Will (from TCPS) acknowledges that he heard something. Just over a minute later, my audio captured a voice saying, “Light…bright.” Could this be a child spirit, asking for its Lite-Brite toy? Possibly. This happened shortly after Will stated that “we’re not here to harm you.” Could the spirits be complaining about our bright flashlights in the darkness? Could be.

Moving into the mannequin room (in a slow and shuffling sort of way, I might add), a voice can be heard at eighteen minutes, one second, that says, “Let…go.” Will had just got done talking about the K2 meter. About five minutes later, we heard chains rattling—definitely a spooky sound indeed. But upon researching the area, we determined that it was glass breaking across the street outside. Someone was tossing bags of garbage in a dumpster. Debunked for sure.

At twenty-eight minutes, fifty-seven seconds, a light darted across the floor in the center room and then up the wall before disappearing. I mentioned what I saw, and Tam (from TCPS) replied that she had seen a light earlier as well. We spent some time trying to re-create the mysterious light and see if it might be car lights from outside, but we were unable to debunk this one.

A few minutes later, we noticed a serious cold spot occurring. We immediately thought that there might be something paranormal flaring up, but we quickly debunked this one. We felt around the room until we finally realized that there was a cold draft coming up the stairs. Another one bites the dust.

As far as video evidence, I did catch one event. At eight minutes, thirteen seconds, you can clearly see what appears to be an orb flying across the back room by a mannequin on the floor. It was the same mannequin I nearly tripped over. The orb quickly flies away from the mannequin before disappearing. I’m not a big orb fan, as I believe that 99 percent of the time they are just dust or insects. But this occurred in December—I doubt there were many insects around at the time, except perhaps the dreaded Arctic bees (I’m told they have a mean frostbite).
